Woman writing in her Emily Ley Simplified Planner to stay organized

Emily Ley Simplified Planner vs. Ultimate Weekly Planner

Now more than ever is a time to get organized and plan for the future. But it’s not always clear how to go about doing so. Many people are overwhelmed by their schedule, their appointments or commitments, and the number of tasks they have to complete in a day or week. Emily Ley’s Simplified Planner can help! Here’s how.

From to-do lists to shopping lists to spring-cleaning lists, sometimes it can feel as though your entire life is composed of little scraps of paper or Post-it notes, each containing something you haven’t done yet. This kind of chaos can contribute to stress levels in your life, and ultimately, leave you feeling unfocused and discouraged.

That’s where your weekly planner comes in. A weekly planner is such a great place to start if you’re feeling like you can’t control everything that’s going on in your life. A weekly planner offers structure and guidance for planning your week, and is the one place where you can compile all those notes and reminders into a clean and simple to-do list or task chart.

However, these days, there seem to be so many variants of weekly planners that even choosing the right one can seem like an enormous chore. Luckily for you, we’ve highlighted two popular planners in this post and have done a side-by-side comparison of them, down to the very last detail, so that you can be sure to pick the perfect planner for you.

Ultimate Weekly Planner

“No one should feel overwhelmed with daily tasks. Peace of mind through an organized life begins now.”  β€” Ultimate Weekly Planner

The Ultimate Weekly Planner was designed for those who enjoy a classic planner with customizable design options, versatile features, and thoughtful details. There are two different versions of the Ultimate Weekly Planner, which means you have more control over the layout and structure of how you’ll plan your week.

The basic components of the planner include:

  • 6 Γ— 8 inches (20.32 cm)
  • 212 pages
  • Thick, 100lb, pure white paper
  • Space for schedule, to-do, and notes
  • One week overview
  • Full month views, which include National Holidays and space for scheduling appointments or important dates
  • Simple color throughout
  • Lay-flat book binding
  • Beautifully crafted divider pages, designed by local artists
  • Inspirational words of wisdom
  • Option of hard-cover or soft-cover binding
  • Made in the USA in partnership with local small businesses

Similarities

The two planners, Emily Ley Simplified Planner and Ultimate Weekly Planner, are similar in their size and shape. They also both boast thick paper volume, with Ultimate Weekly Planner having slightly higher-weight paper.

Both planners include month and week pages, though their exact styles and variations are unique. Emily Ley offers hard cover binding for her planners, as does Ultimate Weekly Planner, though it also offers soft-cover binding (and is not currently offering hard cover binding for the Watercolor design).

Both planners include space to take notes, with Emily Ley providing notes pages and Ultimate Weekly Planner having a notes page directly adjacent to the weekly view, so you can jot down notes pertinent to that week.

Both planners have the potential to help you get organized. Choosing a planner just depends on personal preference and what features you’re looking for.

Differences

Emily Ley Simplified Planner is designed by women, for women. Most men would not enjoy using this planner as it is specifically geared towards females. Ultimate Weekly Planner is gender neutral and equally able to be utilized by both men and women. This can be a pro or a con, depending on who you are and what kind of planner you’re looking for. For a whimsical and overtly stylized planner, Emily Ley fits the bill. For a timeless or classic design, Ultimate Weekly Planner has got your back.

Emily Ley Simplified Planner is imported from outside the country, whereas Ultimate Weekly Planner works with small local businesses in the United States. This is a significant difference, especially considering what’s going on with the global economy right now. When you decide on a planner to work with, you also have to consider the question, “Who am I supporting with my purchase?” In the case of Emily Ley, you’ll be supporting an overseas design-and-distribute team. If you go with Ultimate Weekly Planner, you’ll be supporting small business owners locally.

Emily Ley Simplified Planner offers one layout only, though you can choose between many cover art styles. Ultimate Weekly Planner offers two layouts that you can decide between, the Classic design and the Watercolor design. The Classic design will likely appeal to those wanting a modern, minimalist look, while the Watercolor design may be more attractive to those who want a real specialty piece, as well as artists, creative designers, and others in the art or design industry.

Which planner should I choose?

Deciding which planner to purchase is, ultimately, a personal choice and one that you should make on your own. However, there are key features included in the Ultimate Weekly Planner that aren’t available in Emily Ley’s Simplified Planner, as well as other differences, ones that may or may not be important to you.

If those key features are essential to you and your work, then our recommendation is to check out the Ultimate Weekly Planner. Also, if you’re not a woman, don’t wish to carry around an overly-gendered planner, or prefer to choose between two design layouts instead of one, the Ultimate Weekly Planner would also be the best bet.
